A History of Success

In 2019, tremco illbruck Group was one of the four companies that formed the new CPG Europe. tremco illbruck’s product brands illbruck, Nullifire and Tremco remained, and were joined by Flowcrete, Vandex and Dryvit.

From the Beginning

CPG Europe has 1,400 employees and is part of RPM International Inc. — one of the world’s leading construction products companies for both the industrial and consumer segments. RPM is headquartered in Medina, Ohio (USA) and is listed on the New York stock exchange.

In May 1947, Frank C. Sullivan founded Republic Powdered Metals—the forerunner to RPM International Inc. At the time, the company manufactured and sold a heavy-duty aluminium roof coating called Alumanation, which is still sold today. In that first year, sales reached $90,000.

From the very beginning, Sullivan held the belief that the success of his business would be driven by the people behind it. His long-standing philosophy - "Hire the best people you can find. Create an atmosphere that will keep them. Then, let them do their jobs." - is one that RPM still operates under to this day. Every year under his leadership, the company achieved sales and earnings increases that outpaced original projections and drove continued growth for the business. RPM has a history of successful mergers in the construction industry. In 2005, RPM International Inc acquired illbruck Sealant Systems which merged with Tremco Europe to form the tremco illbruck Group. From 2007 to 2017, the company made many acquisitions which later became integrated into the Group, including Firetherm Intumescent & Insulation Supplies Ltd and Adhere Industrial Tapes Ltd.
