3 WAYS TO BE MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY ON CONSTRUCTION SITES

Every day that passes brings us closer to the European objective of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, by 55% compared to 1990 levels... The ultimate goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Many of us at CPG are thinking about how we could be greener/virtuous for the planet, both in our personal and professional lives. If this is also your case, here are three ideas to be already more environmentally friendly on construction sites.

  1. USE SUSTAINABLE AND LOCALLY SOURCED PRODUCTS

For a more environmentally responsible world, it is necessary to build sustainably. To do this, it is necessary to use materials that have a long service life and that allow the building to ensure as long as possible the functionality for which they are used. Ideally, it is even better if these materials do not come from the other side of the planet, therefore of local origin, to minimize transport from the production plant to the construction site.

At CPG, we favor as much as possible a sustainable supply of renewable & local raw materials, with the least impact, especially carbon, on the environment and health, from their extraction to their use. The search for the extension of the life of our products by optimizing formulations maximizes their functional durability.

Finally, as CPG is a European company, all our production sites and warehouses are located in Europe, and the vast majority of the raw materials that make up our products are also sourced in Europe, which reduces the transport of goods.

  1. USE PREFABRICATED MATERIALS

Prefabricated materials are often produced off-site in a controlled environment and then transported to the construction site for assembly. This method is not only more qualitative and economical, but also more environmentally friendly, because due to the production processes, it uses only the right amount of necessary products, and minimizes waste.

Traditional on-site construction can also lead to air and soil pollution. On the other hand, in prefabrication, industrial environments are controlled and allow increased energy efficiency and air treatment, if particles are generated during production processes, such as when cutting certain materials for example.

  1. MINIMIZE AND PROPERLY TREAT WASTE

According to the European Commission, around 450 to 500 million tonnes of construction and demolition waste are generated each year in Europe. However, only a maximum of two-thirds of this waste is currently recycled.

CPG France is concerned about the end of life of its products and packaging with EcoDDS.

Member since 2013 of EcoDDS, a non-profit company approved by the public authorities, whose mission is to encourage the sorting, collection and treatment of chemical waste.

Some products manufactured by CPG are fully recyclable, such as the polystyrene of NUDURA insulating box blocks, which, when recovered, can be reinjected into the manufacture of new EPS elements.
